Brutal Murder of Young Man in Gorakhpur: Friends Arrested
Tragic Incident in Gorakhpur
In a shocking incident in Gorakhpur district, a 20-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his friends, who then decapitated him and discarded his head in the neighboring Maharajganj district, police reported on Tuesday. Authorities discovered the dismembered body parts on Monday evening and have taken two suspects into custody for questioning.
Details of the Victim
The victim, identified as Ambuj alias Prakashendu, a resident of Surya Vihar Colony, left home on the evening of November 26 to attend a wedding ceremony. When he failed to return and his phone became unreachable, his family filed a missing person report on November 28.
Confession and Arrests
Police managed to contact one of Ambuj's friends who was with him that night. During the interrogation, this friend reportedly confessed that a dispute over money, fueled by alcohol, led him and two others to murder Ambuj with an axe.
Aftermath of the Crime
Following the murder, the suspects traveled to Maharajganj, where they disposed of the severed head on the Bhainsa-Pipra Khadar road and the torso approximately 10 kilometers away near a canal in Shyamdeorwa.
Ongoing Investigation
City Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi confirmed to reporters that the three accused killed Ambuj over a financial dispute. The body parts were recovered on Monday evening and have been sent for autopsy. Currently, two suspects are in custody, while the search for a third individual is ongoing. The names of the suspects have not yet been disclosed, but sources indicate they are aged between 19 and 21.
