Madurai, May 25: A shocking incident occurred early Monday morning when a 17-year-old boy was brutally murdered by a gang of five near the vehicle parking area adjacent to the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple, stirring fears about rising youth violence in the city.

Authorities reported that all five suspects, including a young man named Muthumani, have been apprehended in connection with the crime.

Initial investigations suggest that the attack may have been motivated by a longstanding feud that originated from a dispute during the recent Chithirai festival.

As per the police, the victim was resting at the parking facility owned by the Madurai Corporation when the gang, armed with sickles and other sharp instruments, allegedly entered the area.

The assault is believed to have occurred at dawn when the victim was alone.

According to police sources, the attackers surrounded the boy and launched a sudden and violent assault, striking him multiple times with their weapons.

The victim suffered critical injuries and succumbed on the spot before anyone could assist him.

Upon receiving alerts from local residents and bystanders, law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and later transported the body for a post-mortem examination at a government facility.

Senior police officials promptly initiated a thorough investigation and assembled teams to locate the suspects.

Thanks to initial evidence and local intelligence, investigators swiftly identified and arrested all five individuals believed to be involved in the murder.

During interrogations, it was revealed that the victim had previously clashed with Muthumani during the Chithirai festival, one of the largest religious celebrations in Madurai.

Authorities suspect that this earlier conflict may have escalated into a retaliatory attack. Additionally, it was noted that the deceased had several criminal cases against him, prompting investigators to explore whether other disputes or gang rivalries contributed to the murder.
