Bride Refuses to Marry Before Rituals in Uttar Pradesh
Unexpected Refusal at a Wedding Ceremony
A shocking incident has emerged from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh, where a bride declined to marry just before the traditional seven rounds. The wedding was taking place in a village within the Aung police jurisdiction, with the groom's party arriving from the Bindki area. The guests were welcomed with great respect, and the initial rituals, including the welcoming ceremony and the exchange of garlands, had been completed. However, the atmosphere of joy turned tense when the bride suddenly refused to proceed with the marriage.
Family in Turmoil Over Bride's Decision
The bride's refusal caused chaos among both families. Her relatives attempted to persuade her, but she remained firm in her decision. She explicitly stated that she was not willing to go through with the marriage and threatened to take drastic measures if forced into it.
Return to Her Lover's Home
She also expressed that she would only marry her lover, as they had vowed to live and die together. Following this declaration, the situation became increasingly strained, prompting the groom's party to decide to leave without the bride. Meanwhile, the bride's family opted to take her back to her lover's home, understanding the circumstances.
Police Involvement and Resolution
According to Ramesh Shankar Saroj, the officer in charge of the Aung police station, the investigation revealed that the matter was rooted in a romantic relationship. The bride is in love with a neighbor and wishes to marry him. Both individuals are of legal age, and the situation has been resolved amicably with the consent of their families. The police confirmed that a mutual agreement has been reached, and there are no remaining disputes.
