The bride, residing in Chimnabagh, was set to marry the groom from Ujjain. Both families had mutually agreed on the marriage, and the groom, a table tennis coach, was welcomed by the bride's family. The plan was for the groom to arrive with the wedding party in the evening after a daytime engagement ceremony.

After the engagement, the bride went to a beauty parlor in the Annapurna area. As the groom and his party awaited her arrival for the wedding, the bride was nowhere to be found. When the groom's family inquired about her absence, they were initially met with silence before being informed that she had run away with her lover.
