Bride Calls Off Wedding Over Simple Math Question in Uttar Pradesh
A Shocking Turn of Events at a Wedding
Marriage is often considered one of the most significant moments in a person's life. Naturally, no one wishes to marry someone whose traits they do not appreciate. In arranged marriages, couples frequently miss the chance to understand each other, which can sometimes lead to divorce after the wedding. In some instances, brides discover certain habits or flaws of the groom on the wedding day itself, prompting them to call off the marriage.
Take, for instance, a recent incident from Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh. Here, a bride decided to cancel her wedding simply because the groom failed to answer a straightforward question. The bride asked the groom to recite the multiplication table of two, but he was unable to do so. Following this, she firmly insisted on not going through with the marriage. Despite attempts by family members to persuade her throughout the night, she remained resolute.
During the ceremony, the groom exhibited some peculiar behavior, which raised suspicions in the bride's mind. Consequently, she posed the multiplication question to him. Unfortunately, despite several attempts, the groom could not provide the correct answer. This led the bride to reject the marriage right then and there.
The situation escalated quickly, necessitating the involvement of the police. Upon their arrival, both families began to demand reimbursement for the expenses incurred for the wedding. The officer in charge, Vinod Kumar, listened to both sides calmly and facilitated a compromise. Ultimately, both parties agreed to return the wedding jewelry and gifts to each other. Since both sides reached an agreement, no formal case was filed.
This incident has sparked considerable discussion on social media. While some individuals commend the bride's decision, others criticize it. Many argue that if the bride were uneducated and the groom had left her for the same reason, it would have been deemed unacceptable. They believe that it is unfair to dismiss someone solely based on their educational background. Conversely, some feel that the groom's educational qualifications should have been clarified beforehand.
