Significant Bilateral Discussions at BRICS Meeting
During the BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting held under India's presidency, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in crucial bilateral talks with his counterparts from Egypt and Thailand. The primary aim of these discussions was to enhance mutual cooperation and foster a shared understanding of global crises, particularly the situations in the Middle East.
Discussions also encompassed the current state of affairs in West Asia. Jaishankar held separate meetings with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Don Pramudwinai, during the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) in New Delhi.
In a series of posts on 'X', the minister shared images from his bilateral meetings with various leaders. He expressed his pleasure in meeting Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, stating, “It’s always a pleasure to meet Foreign Minister Shoukry; we discussed developments from the BRICS India 2026 FMM and exchanged interesting views on West Asia.”
In another post, he provided detailed insights about his discussions with the Thai counterpart. He noted, “This evening's meeting with Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai was very productive. Our talks focused on deepening India-Thailand cooperation across various sectors, including trade, connectivity, maritime, and defense. We also shared perspectives on Myanmar and West Asia.”
