Brave Woman Prevents Train Disaster in Uttar Pradesh
A Life-Saving Encounter on the Tracks
Trains have become an essential mode of transportation in our lives. While railways are generally considered a safe means of travel, accidents can still occur, especially if the tracks are damaged. Railway staff are usually vigilant in checking the tracks to prevent such incidents.
Imagine a scenario where the railway workers are unable to inspect the tracks, and a break occurs. This was the concern of a rural woman from Uttar Pradesh. Upon spotting a broken track, she acted swiftly and cleverly, saving the lives of thousands of passengers. Her quick thinking has garnered widespread praise on social media.
Incident in Etah, Uttar Pradesh
The woman who averted a major disaster hails from Etah, residing in the village of Gularia in the Awaghar area. Omvati, the woman in question, was on her way to her fields around 8 AM when she noticed something alarming near the Kulba railway halt station, located just 100 meters away.
To her shock, she discovered that the railway track was broken. Knowing that a train was scheduled to pass through that route shortly, she realized the gravity of the situation, as this was the usual time for the Etah-Tundla passenger train.
How She Saved the Passengers
Initially stunned, Omvati quickly regained her composure and decided to take action to protect the passengers. She rushed back home, grabbed a red cloth, and returned to the site of the broken track. Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, she tied the red cloth near the damaged track.
Not stopping there, she waited for the train to arrive. Soon, the sound of the Etah-Tundla passenger train's whistle filled the air. As the train approached, Omvati waved her sari's red pallu to attract attention.
The Train Comes to a Halt
Her clever signaling with the red cloth and pallu caught the attention of the train's locomotive pilot. Acting quickly, he applied the emergency brakes, bringing the train to a stop just short of the broken track.
Once the train halted and the driver disembarked, Omvati pointed out the damaged track. The pilot was astonished to see the break and immediately informed the authorities. The track was repaired within half an hour, allowing the train to continue its journey. Omvati's quick thinking has made her a sensation on social media, where she explained that she knew the red signal indicated danger.
