Tragic Loss of a Brave Soldier
Guwahati/Bokaro, July 16: A member of the CRPF from Kokrajhar district in Assam was tragically killed during a fierce clash with Maoists in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, on Wednesday morning.
Parneswar Koch, serving in the elite CoBRA battalion of the CRPF, lost his life in an encounter that took place around 5:30 AM in the Birhordera forest area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gomia police station.
During the operation, two Maoists were also reported killed, according to police sources.
Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed his condolences over the loss, honoring Koch as a 'braveheart' who sacrificed his life for the nation.
In a message on social media, he stated, 'The people of Assam honor his sacrifice and extend our thoughts and prayers to his family. We will always support them, and this sacrifice will not be in vain as our forces strive to eradicate naxalism from our land.'
Inspector General of Bokaro Zone, Kranthi Kumar Gadidesi, confirmed the fatalities and mentioned that a search operation is currently underway in the vicinity.
Bokaro's Superintendent of Police, Harvinder Singh, noted that the identities of the deceased Maoists have yet to be verified.
This encounter is part of a broader initiative known as Operation Sankalp, which represents the government's intensified efforts against left-wing extremism.
The operation involves over 24,000 security personnel, including members from the CRPF, CoBRA, state police, and specialized units, with the goal of eradicating Naxal activities by March 31, 2026.
The news of Koch's death has brought sorrow to his hometown in Kokrajhar.
