Bijni, March 3: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has officially expelled Dimbeswar Boro, the former vice president of the Bijni District Youth BPF, for a duration of six years due to alleged activities against the party, escalating the political rivalry in the Bijni Assembly constituency.
This decision was made following directives from both the Youth BPF central committee and the Bijni District BPF, resulting in Boro's removal from his position and primary membership.
The expulsion follows Boro's decision to run as an independent candidate after being denied a ticket from the BPF.
During a press conference, Rupam Kumar Das, the President of Bijni District Youth BPF, announced the expulsion and cautioned the public.
“Dimbeswar Boro has chosen to contest independently and has consistently criticized the party. His actions have breached party discipline, compelling us to expel him for six years,” Das stated.
He also urged voters to be wary of Boro’s assertions.
“Although he claims to be independent, there are efforts to mislead voters. We encourage the Bijni populace to disregard such narratives and support the official candidate,” he added.
Das reaffirmed the party's backing for NDA candidate Arup Kumar De, urging voters to ensure his success.
“Arup Kumar De represents the development interests of Bijni. We call upon the public to vote for him and bolster the region’s progress,” he emphasized.
The Youth BPF leader hinted at potential further disciplinary measures within the party, indicating that the central committee would take necessary actions against Khalilur Rahman, another former BPF councillor running as an independent.
In a related event, Hagrama Mohilary, while campaigning for NDA candidate Arup Kumar De at an election rally in Pachalahar, criticized the United People’s Liberal Party (UPPL).
He questioned the shifting political allegiances, stating, “If leaders are switching sides, they owe the public an explanation. The electorate deserves transparency regarding such choices.”
Mohilary cautioned voters against trusting UPPL’s statements.
“If we consider UPPL’s previous statements, including those from last year, it will only result in losses for the people. Bijni cannot afford such unpredictability,” he remarked.
The rally saw participation from BPF leaders, including BTI executive member Dhiraj Borgoyari, as the NDA camp aimed to consolidate votes in the constituency.
