Bomb Threats Lead to Court Evacuations

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court along with various other courts in Mumbai was evacuated following the receipt of bomb threats via email, as reported by local news sources.

Security agencies and bomb disposal teams conducted thorough inspections of the affected locations.

By the end of the day, officials confirmed that no explosives were discovered, and all sites were deemed secure.

The city’s police commissioner informed the media that the threats were sent to multiple courts and banks through email.

He reassured the public that there was no cause for alarm.

The threats specifically targeted the High Court and magistrate courts located in Bandra, Andheri, and Esplanade, according to reports.

An internal communication from the Bombay Bar Association and the Advocates’ Association of Western India indicated that hearings in the High Court would recommence at 3 PM, pending the completion of safety checks by the police.

It remains uncertain whether court proceedings have resumed as planned.

Judges were instructed to leave their benches during the security evaluations, as per a directive from the chief justice.

A first information report will be lodged against unidentified individuals responsible for the threats, according to a police spokesperson.

In a similar incident in September, bomb threats were sent to the High Court, which were later determined to be hoaxes.
