Bomb Threats Disrupt Schools in Chandigarh: Police Launch Search Operations
Panic Strikes Schools in Chandigarh
On Monday morning, several prominent schools in Chandigarh, known as the 'City Beautiful,' were thrown into chaos after receiving bomb threat messages via their official email accounts. In response to this alarming information, both the administration and police swiftly mobilized to initiate extensive search operations at the affected institutions.
Police Response and Ongoing Searches
According to officials, police personnel arrived at the school premises and commenced thorough searches within the educational institutions. A police officer present during the search at one school stated, 'As soon as we received the information, we arrived at the school grounds. A comprehensive search is underway, but so far, nothing suspicious has been found. We have assured parents that there is no need for panic.' This incident follows a series of similar threats reported in Chandigarh and various locations in Punjab and Haryana over the past few weeks, where several schools and the High Court received threats that were later determined to be false.
Pattern of Mischief?
It is noteworthy that there has been a rise in incidents involving 'fake calls' and 'threatening emails' in Chandigarh and surrounding areas in Punjab and Haryana in recent weeks. Previously, several schools and the Punjab and Haryana High Court had received similar threats, which were subsequently proven to be hoaxes.
Next Steps in the Investigation
The cyber cell of the Chandigarh police is currently investigating the email addresses from which these messages were sent. Officials indicate that efforts are underway to trace the culprits through their IP addresses. The administration has made it clear that strict legal action will be taken against those mischievous elements responsible for disturbing the peace and spreading fear.
