Bomb Threat Hoax Triggers Security Alert in Mumbai: What Happened?
Mumbai on High Alert Following Bomb Threat Email
Mumbai: On Friday, authorities heightened security measures after receiving an email that threatened bomb attacks at several prominent locations, including the Bombay High Court, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Mahalaxmi Racecourse, and the residence of actor Amitabh Bachchan, known as 'Jalsa'. Fortunately, the threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.
Police, along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) and various security agencies, conducted thorough searches at all mentioned sites, but no explosives or suspicious items were discovered. Law enforcement officials indicated that cyber police are currently working to trace the sender's IP address.
This incident marks the second security alert involving Bachchan in a short span. Earlier, on October 23, an email sent to Mumbai's Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi warned of a grenade attack targeting a school and also threatened Bachchan's residence in Juhu between October 31 and November 27.
The email also mentioned a potential attack during singer Diljit Dosanjh's concert scheduled for November 27 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
In light of these security threats, Bachchan was recently spotted greeting fans outside his home, shielded by a transparent bulletproof enclosure.
