Security Alert at Delhi Legislative Assembly


New Delhi: Just hours before Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was set to present the budget, the Delhi Legislative Assembly was alerted to a bomb threat on Tuesday morning, according to police reports.


Authorities stated that after conducting thorough checks of the assembly grounds, no suspicious items were discovered, although investigations are ongoing.


The initial threat was communicated through an email sent to the assembly at 7:28 AM, followed by another message directed to Speaker Vijender Gupta at 7:49 AM.


In response to the threat, security personnel quickly arrived at the scene to initiate checks and investigations.


An officer confirmed that security measures have been intensified around the assembly area.


Various agencies, including bomb disposal units, conducted inspections at the Vidhan Sabha, as noted by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia.


So far, nothing suspicious has been uncovered, and appropriate police measures are in effect, he added.


The email mentioned several prominent figures, including Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, CM Gupta, and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.


Police and security teams are actively investigating the source of the email while comprehensive anti-sabotage checks continue, officials reported.
