Bomb Threat Disrupts Delhi Assembly Ahead of Budget Presentation
Panic in the Capital Due to Bomb Threat
A bomb threat targeting the Delhi Assembly and its Speaker, Vijender Gupta, sent shockwaves through the capital just hours before the government was set to present its budget. The threat was communicated via email, prompting immediate action from security agencies and the Delhi police, who cordoned off the entire area.
Warnings Received via Two Separate Emails
According to officials, two threatening messages were received on Tuesday morning at different times. The first email arrived at 7:28 AM on the official email account of the Delhi Assembly, while the second was directed to Speaker Vijender Gupta's inbox at 7:49 AM. Both emails explicitly warned of a bomb explosion at the assembly building, coinciding with the scheduled budget speech by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Threat Extended to Assembly Metro Station
The threat was not limited to the assembly premises alone. Reports indicate that the emails also mentioned a planned bombing at the Assembly Metro Station. In response, security teams increased patrols around the metro area and initiated precautionary checks. It is noteworthy that the bomb threat email was received just hours before Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's budget speech, as reported by official sources. Following the threat, security forces promptly arrived at the scene to conduct investigations and ensure safety. A police source stated, "We have tightened security both inside and around the premises."
Prominent Leaders Named in the Threatening Email
The threatening email also listed several prominent leaders, including LG Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Officials are currently investigating the motive behind including these leaders' names in the threat. Additionally, police and security agencies have launched an inquiry to trace the source of the emails and are conducting thorough checks to eliminate any potential sabotage.
