Chennai: Early Sunday morning, the Chennai Police Control Room received a bomb threat concerning the residence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, located in Alwarpet. This alarming report prompted an immediate and robust security response.

Upon receiving the threat, authorities quickly dispatched a bomb disposal unit along with a sniffer dog team to the Chief Minister's official residence. A comprehensive search was conducted throughout the property, ensuring every nook and cranny was thoroughly examined.

After an extensive inspection lasting over an hour, law enforcement confirmed that the bomb threat was unfounded.

No explosives or suspicious items were discovered on the premises.

In light of the hoax, officials have initiated an investigation to identify the individual responsible for the call.

The threat was reportedly made from a mobile device, and efforts are currently underway to trace the number and locate the caller.

Senior police officials have stated that the matter is being taken seriously, and appropriate legal measures will be pursued against the person who instigated this panic and attempted to disrupt public order.

In April 2023, several schools in Chennai and Coimbatore received email threats regarding planted bombs, which were also proven to be false.

Earlier in 2024, a threat call directed at the Madras High Court led to a temporary lockdown of the area.

Security experts have cautioned that repeated false threats can desensitize emergency response systems and waste critical public resources.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid such pranks, emphasizing that strict legal repercussions await those found guilty.

Meanwhile, CM Stalin, who is currently recovering from a recent medical procedure, was promptly updated about the situation.
