Bomb Threat at Mau Railway Station: Kashi Express Evacuated and Cleared
Bomb Threat Disrupts Kashi Express
Mau, January 6, 2026: A bomb threat caused a significant scare at the Mau railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. An anonymous caller alerted the police control room about a bomb on the Kashi Express train traveling from Gorakhpur to Mumbai. In response, teams from the police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF) swiftly acted to halt the train and evacuate all passengers safely.
The Kashi Express (Train No. 15018) departed from Gorakhpur at 5:53 AM and arrived at Mau Junction's platform number 1 around 9:32 AM. Shortly after, at approximately 9:30 AM, the control room received the bomb threat call. Under the leadership of SP Ilamaran G, a heavy police presence, including ASP Anup Kumar, RPF Inspector, and GRP Station Head, arrived at the scene. A thorough search of each train carriage was conducted with the assistance of a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad.
During the investigation, a suspicious bag was discovered, which was carefully examined, but no explosives or suspicious materials were found. After nearly two hours of intensive searching, officials deemed the threat a hoax. SP Ilamaran G confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated and the entire train was inspected, revealing no danger. Efforts are underway to trace the caller's location.
Once the checks were completed, passengers were lined up and allowed to reboard the train, which was then cleared to continue its journey. Although there was temporary chaos among the passengers, the prompt actions of the police prevented a potential disaster.
