Bodo Sahitya Sabha's Upcoming Cultural Event
Bijni, January 8: The 65th session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha is scheduled to commence on January 9 at the Thengphakhri fields in Borlaugao, located in Chirang district.
The organizing committee has announced that preparations for the three-day event are almost finalized, with around 90% of the necessary arrangements completed.
The venue is being transformed into a lively cultural center, featuring approximately 500 stalls that will include bookshops and exhibitions highlighting the Bodo community's rich literary heritage, traditional culture, indigenous crafts, and a variety of food items.
With an estimated budget of nearly Rs 4 crore, the session is anticipated to attract participants from both domestic and international locations.
A key highlight will be the open meeting on January 11, which will be graced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief guest.
This open session is expected to see significant public engagement and will emphasize the cultural, literary, and social contributions of the Bodo community.
Delegates and representatives from Nepal, Japan, and Bangladesh, along with attendees from various Northeastern states and West Bengal, are expected to participate, adding an international and inter-regional dimension to the event.
A member of the organizing committee stated that extensive arrangements have been made to ensure the program runs smoothly.
“We are nearly 90% ready. Food and accommodation plans are set, exhibition stalls are prepared, and we have received tremendous support from various community sectors. Different government departments have also collaborated, making this year's session particularly special,” the member remarked.
Additionally, departments such as Tourism, Fisheries, and Agriculture are actively involved, contributing to exhibitions and interactive displays.
Notably, Sarbeswar Basumatary, a recipient of the Padma Shri award, will curate a special exhibit that showcases unique and innovative farming techniques.
“Visitors will have the chance to engage directly with him and learn about these sustainable agricultural practices,” the committee member added.
The organizers are optimistic that the 65th session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha will not only celebrate Bodo literature and culture but also act as a platform for cultural exchange, dialogue, and inclusive development.
