BMCON-9 Conference Kicks Off in Jaipur

Jaipur. The BMCON-9 conference, organized by the Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, is set to commence on Friday and will span three days. Over 300 cancer specialists from across the nation will gather to discuss the latest methodologies and challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancer. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the hospital on Thursday.


Dr. Upendra Sharma, the organizing secretary for BMCON-9, highlighted that various research initiatives related to blood cancer treatment are currently underway both domestically and internationally. Additionally, several cutting-edge treatment methods are being implemented at select centers. The conference aims to facilitate discussions on these research efforts, methodologies, and the challenges faced in the field.


During the event, Dr. Geetanjali Agarwal Joshi, the organizing chairperson and medical director, along with Dr. Ajay Bapna, director of medical oncology, elaborated on the objectives of BMCON.


According to Dr. Prakash Singh Shekhawat, the organizing joint secretary, the first day of the conference will feature four workshops. These workshops will take place on August 15 within the hospital premises, covering various topics related to pathology and blood transfusion, along with hands-on training sessions. Workshops will focus on molecular pathology, flow cytometry, stem cell harvesting, and immunohematology, guided by pathologists Dr. Shashi Bansal and Dr. Richa Gupta. Experts from across the country, as well as medical students, will participate in these training sessions.


Dr. Ajay Bapna also mentioned that the conference will include quizzes alongside workshops and sessions, addressing significant topics such as CAR-T cell therapy, myeloma, CLL, lymphoma, and pediatric hematology.
