Early Trends in BMC Elections

According to initial trends from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections held on Friday, the BJP-Shiv Sena Mahayuti alliance is leading in 102 wards. In contrast, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS alliance is trailing in 57 wards. Specifically, the UBT alliance's Shiv Sena is ahead in 48 wards, MNS in 8, and the NCP-SP in 1 ward.




As per the early counting data, the Congress party has gained a lead in 3 wards, while Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP is also showing progress.


Key Victories and Trends

So far, in the BMC election results, BJP's Nuvnath Ban has won ward number 135, while Varsha Tembavalkar from Shiv Sena (Shinde) defeated the NCP-SP candidate in ward 51. Additionally, Rekha Ram Yadav from Shiv Sena (Shinde) has secured victory in ward 1, with Congress's Sheetal Mhatre coming in second.




Initial trends indicate that in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP is poised for a significant victory in the Chief Minister's hometown, leading in 88 out of 151 seats, while Congress is ahead in 22 seats.


Performance in Other Municipal Corporations

In Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the BJP has taken the lead over the Pawar family, securing 55 out of 165 seats, while both factions of the NCP are leading in 6 seats, and the Congress-UBT alliance in 4 seats. In Thane Municipal Corporation, which is the home area of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the BJP is ahead in 24 out of 131 wards, with the NCP leading in 4 and the UBT-MNS-NCP (SP) in 5 wards.




In Nashik, trends show the BJP leading in 12 out of 122 seats, while MVA-MNS is ahead in 9 and SS-NCP in 11.


Voting Statistics and Allegations

In Shambhinar, preliminary data indicates that the BJP is leading in 18 out of 115 seats, Shiv Sena in 11, UBT Sena in 7, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi in 1, and Congress-NCP (SP) in 5, with the NCP ahead in 2 seats. Meanwhile, the State Election Commissioner (SEC) has reported a voter turnout of 52.94% in the recently concluded BMC elections. The elections, which took place in one of India's wealthiest municipal corporations, were marred by allegations from the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance, which were later dismissed by the SEC.
