Mangaldai, April 4: In a pointed political critique as the final phase of campaigning approaches, BJP national president Nitin Nabin labeled Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a 'part-time politician' who only returns to India during election seasons, quickly departing once the polls conclude.

During a significant rally at Dighirpar Rash Khola field near Mangaldai, Nabin's comments set a combative tone for the BJP as the Assam Assembly elections reach a critical juncture.

While campaigning for party candidates Nilima Devi (Mangaldai), Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi (Sipajhar), and Bikan Deka (Tangla), Nabin highlighted the BJP's governance achievements, contrasting them with what he termed years of instability under Congress leadership.

He stated, 'It was only after 2014–16, when BJP governments took charge at both the Centre and in Assam, that we witnessed a shift from fear and unrest to an era of peace and opportunities.'

Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the Northeast, Nabin emphasized that Assam is pivotal to the government's development agenda.

'Modi ji believes that India's progress is intertwined with the advancement of the Northeast,' he remarked, noting that the Prime Minister's frequent visits to the state demonstrate his 'deep respect and commitment' to its residents.

Nabin compared Modi's engagement with Assam to that of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, claiming that Modi has visited the state 'around 70 times' during his tenure, a stark contrast to Singh's involvement despite representing Assam in Parliament.

He also commended the BJP-led state government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for reclaiming significant government land from 'infiltrators,' whom he accused previous Congress administrations of supporting.

'The current government has taken firm actions to recover government land and restore law and order,' he asserted.

At the rally, State BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia expressed optimism about the party's electoral chances.

'The BJP will secure victories in Mangaldai, Sipajhar, and Tangla by substantial margins,' Saikia declared.

With heightened rhetoric and focused critiques of the opposition, the BJP's campaign in Assam is intensifying as leaders aim to solidify support through a blend of development narratives and political contrasts.
