BJP's Jana Aashirwad Yatra Sees Unprecedented Public Engagement in Upper Assam

Massive Turnout for BJP's Campaign in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, March 6: The fifth day of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jana Aashirwad Yatra attracted an impressive crowd in Upper Assam, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma noting that the public response has surpassed all expectations.

During his address to party members and supporters on Friday, Sarma remarked that the number of attendees was significantly higher than what the party had predicted.

“The turnout for this blessing journey has exceeded our projections,” Sarma stated, showing his excitement over the increasing public backing.

On this day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a modern six-storey Mandal office in Dibrugarh’s Jeevan Phukan Nagar, marking a pivotal organizational advancement for the party in Upper Assam.

This newly established office will serve as a divisional headquarters, managing party activities across eight districts in the area.

The inauguration was graced by Union Cabinet Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP Assam state president Dilip Saikia, Minister Prashanta Phukan, MLAs Vinod Hazarika and Chakradhar Gogoi, along with numerous party leaders and supporters.

In his speech, Sarma emphasized Dibrugarh's rising significance in Assam's political and administrative framework.

The Assam government is actively working to position Dibrugarh as the state’s second capital, with several key institutions already established, including the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and the Assam Legislative Assembly building.

The six-storey facility is designed with various amenities to support party operations, including a conference hall, offices for state and district leaders, a dedicated chamber for the party president, a room for the Chief Minister, and a media room for journalists.

Party officials indicated that this office will act as the central hub for coordinating organizational efforts across eight districts in Upper Assam, enhancing the BJP’s political outreach and campaign strategies in the region.

Chief Minister Sarma explained that Dibrugarh's designation as the second capital of Assam made it an ideal location for a significant party office.

“Dibrugarh is our second capital. Rather than just establishing a district office, we have constructed a Mandal office. Today, we dedicate this office to our party workers,” he remarked.

This development is timely as the BJP ramps up its preparations for the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections, with the Jan Ashirwad Yatra serving as a crucial outreach initiative to engage voters statewide.

As the yatra reaches its fifth day, party leaders express confidence that the increasing crowds and enthusiastic participation indicate robust grassroots support ahead of the electoral contest.
