BJP's Landmark Win in West Bengal Assembly Elections

The recent assembly elections in West Bengal have seen the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieve a remarkable and historic victory, resonating across the nation. But do you know who played the most crucial role behind this 'Bengal conquest'? It was the 'Rajasthan Brigade'. Veteran leaders from Rajasthan devised a strategic plan that significantly altered the electoral landscape in the state. Under the adept leadership of campaign in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and state in-charge Sunil Bansal, these leaders laid the groundwork for a new path to victory for the party in Bengal.

Why Did Mamata Banerjee Lose in Her Stronghold?

A BJP worker revealed, "When people did not see development in their areas, their opinions began to shift. Trust in Prime Minister Modi and the crucial role of the Election Commission led voters to cast their ballots fearlessly." According to Rathore, the image of Suvendu as honest and straightforward, standing with the poor, contributed to the Chief Minister's defeat in her own bastion. When asked about Mamata Banerjee's allegations of "booth capturing and violence," Rajendra Rathore dismissed them, stating, "A desperate person reacts impulsively."

Unveiling Fear Through Micro-Management

Rathore mentioned that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) relied on local club members to intimidate voters. However, the BJP established a robust structure at each booth and 'power center' on a micro level, exposing the opposition's monopoly and fear tactics, which resulted in a decisive victory. When asked if West Bengal would see its next Chief Minister from Bhabanipur, Rathore remarked that politics is a game of possibilities. He added that leadership will determine the outcome, reflecting the charisma of a strong leader.

Bhabanipur: A Key Constituency in West Bengal

This constituency has played a significant role in Bengal's political landscape over the past decade. In 2021, TMC senior leader Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay won this seat by defeating BJP's Rudranil Ghosh by 28,719 votes. He later resigned to allow Mamata Banerjee to contest a by-election, which was necessary for her to remain in power after losing the Nandigram seat that same year. In the by-election, Mamata Banerjee secured a decisive victory against BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal by nearly 60,000 votes, solidifying Bhabanipur as a TMC stronghold, a status the party has largely maintained since 2011.

Anti-Incumbency Wave in Bhabanipur

As the Chief Minister exited the counting center, tension was palpable in Bhabanipur. A crowd of BJP supporters welcomed her with chants of "Corrupt Mamata, step aside," signaling an anti-incumbency wave after 15 years of TMC rule. Earlier in the day, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee labeled the BJP's substantial win in the state elections as "unethical," alleging that the mandate was "stolen" in over 100 seats. Exiting the counting center in Bhabanipur, she stated, "We will make a comeback."

Strategic Moves in Bhabanipur

Strong Front in Bhabanipur: In Mamata Banerjee's own constituency, former opposition leader Rajendra Rathore and his team established such a formidable front that the BJP candidate gained a significant lead.
North Bengal Campaign: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and former Union Minister Kailash Chaudhary conducted an aggressive and effective campaign in North Bengal, solidifying the party's position.
Victory in Kolkata: The magic of Rajasthan also worked in Kolkata, TMC's strongest bastion. In Kolkata North, the party won 4 out of 7 seats for the first time, thanks to the campaigns of MLAs Atul Bhansali, Shankar Singh Rajpurhoit, and Dr. Sheila Vishnoi.
Surprising Wins in South: Meanwhile, in Kolkata South, under the leadership of former state general secretary Motilal Meena, the BJP opened its account with victories in several seats, surprising everyone.
