He criticized TMC MP Sougata Roy for opposing the delimitation bill of 2026, asserting that there is no need for him to worry about southern India. He described the opposition as mere politics. Roy stated that opposition parties will vote against delimitation in Parliament, emphasizing that the process could affect representation from southern states in the Lok Sabha. He remarked, "We are against it. All opposition parties are opposing this. We will also vote against it. It is still unclear what the government wants, but this is a wrong policy that will impact southern states." Former Union Minister and BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi called it the right time to amend the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' to implement two-thirds reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

She expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister and Parliament for passing the women's reservation bill, calling it a historic moment of unity, while noting that the real challenge lies in its implementation. History shows that despite their significant role in India's freedom struggle, women have been marginalized in power structures since independence, from the INA's 'Rani Jhansi Regiment' to Gandhi's Satyagraha. This discussion arose following a heated debate in the Lok Sabha regarding the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Delimitation Bill, 2026, and the Union Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Opposition MPs raised concerns about the constitutional amendment, which proposes delimitation based on the 2011 census and aims to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats to 850. The opposition accused the proposed law of diminishing representation from southern states in the House.
