Withdrawal of Candidacy

Following dissatisfaction among party members, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has retracted the candidacy of Pooja More-Jadhav for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections. She was nominated under the quota of the Republican Party of India (RPI) for Ward Number Two, with her nomination papers submitted on January 15.


The controversy surrounding her candidacy erupted when old videos surfaced, featuring personal remarks made against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife during the Maratha reservation protests.


Murli Dhar Mohol, a central minister and BJP MP from Pune, confirmed the withdrawal of her nomination. In response, More-Jadhav expressed that she had become a target of social media trolling.


She stated, 'False information has been spread about me, attempting to portray that I do not believe in the BJP's ideology. Considering the trolling on social media, I decided to withdraw my nomination.' She also claimed that the comments in question were made by 'another girl,' but her name was incorrectly associated with them.
