The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made its candidate selections public for the forthcoming Mandi Municipal Corporation elections, putting forward nominees for all 15 wards. This announcement was made by Dr. Rajeev Bindal, the state BJP president, signaling the party's official participation in the electoral process.
According to the released list, Ranveer Singh will represent the Khaliar ward, Sarita Handa will contest from Old Mandi, Nirmal Verma is nominated for Paddal, Manju Devi will run from Nela, and Krishna Thakur is set to compete in Mangwai. Additionally, Virender Singh Arya will stand for election in Sanyard, while Jitender Singh has been selected for Talyahad. Gurdeep Kaur and Suman Thakur will represent Palace Colony-1 and Palace Colony-2, respectively.
In the other wards, Neha Kumari will contest from Suhra, Jitender Sharma from Samkhetar, Gagan Kashyap from Bhagwahan, Rajni Sharma from Thaneda, Gurbachan Singh from Baihna, and Rita Devi from Dohandi.
A significant change in this election is the absence of former Mayor Virender Bhatt Sharma, who will not be participating due to the reservation of his ward for women. Consequently, he has opted not to contest in any other ward this time around.
With the candidate announcements, political activities in Mandi are intensifying, as all parties prepare for what promises to be a competitive municipal election.
