BJP's New Campaign in West Bengal

The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, announced on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will initiate a campaign named 'Chorader Panchali' in East Medinipur district to inform the public about the alleged wrongdoings of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.

Adhikari accused the TMC of spreading falsehoods about the Narendra Modi-led government and opposition parties through its 'Unnayaner Panchali' (Tale of Development) initiative.

While addressing a rally in his constituency, he stated, 'Although the people have begun to see through the TMC's deception, the BJP must counter this campaign and reveal the truth. Starting tomorrow, we will showcase 'Chorader Panchali' (Tales of Theft) in Nandigram and across East Medinipur.'

During the rally, Adhikari claimed that Hindus in Nandigram are living in fear of jihadist elements protected by the ruling party. He remarked, 'The consequences of Hindus not uniting can be clearly seen across the border in Bangladesh.'

He highlighted that the Hindu population in Bangladesh, which once constituted 30% of the total, has now dwindled to just 7%. He warned that if Hindus in Nandigram do not come together, oppression will only increase.

Kunal Ghosh, the state secretary of the TMC, responded by accusing Adhikari of playing a dangerous polarization game to gain power. He asserted that the people of Bengal will not fall for the BJP's tactics, which aim to sow communal discord by referencing incidents of violence in Bangladesh. With assembly elections approaching in West Bengal, the TMC is focused on securing a fourth consecutive term in power.
