Trilok Kapoor, a senior spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh, has expressed sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the approval of a substantial financial package amounting to ₹3,920 crore. This funding is part of the ‘Pride of Hills’ initiative and the ‘Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment’ (SASCI). Kapoor believes this allocation marks a pivotal moment in the state's developmental trajectory.

In response to the Congress party's claims of neglect from the central government, Kapoor provided statistics to illustrate the disparity in financial support:

  • Under the decade-long UPA administration led by Manmohan Singh, Himachal Pradesh received merely ₹18,000 crore.

  • Conversely, during Modi's tenure, the state has already benefited from over ₹97,000 crore in financial aid.

Kapoor highlighted that this signifies a remarkable 530% increase in support compared to the previous government, reaffirming the Modi administration's dedication to the state's advancement.

He launched a fierce critique of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and his team, accusing them of misleading the public regarding the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG). Kapoor stated, “The Chief Minister and his associates have been misleading the populace with false assertions. They owe the people of Himachal a public apology for their misleading statements about RDG and central assistance.” He further claimed that instead of leveraging the unprecedented central funds for development, the Sukhu administration is engaged in empty rhetoric.

Kapoor warned that while the central government is providing significant financial resources to Himachal, the state government is hindering development projects and leading the state towards deterioration. He asserted that the public will no longer be swayed by Congress's “victim card” narrative and propaganda.

“This historic financial support reaffirms the Modi government's steadfast commitment to Himachal Pradesh. The entire state is grateful to Prime Minister Modi and the Centre for this generous assistance,” Kapoor concluded.
