BJP's Triumph in Delhi MCD By-Elections

On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated a significant victory in the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) by-elections, winning 7 out of 12 wards, including all 5 reserved for women, where voting took place on November 30. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to secure 3 seats, while the All India Forward Block (AIFB) and Congress each won 1 seat. However, shortly after the results were announced, AAP accused the BJP of electoral misconduct, claiming that despite strategic efforts, their seat count dropped from 9 to 7.

In response to the election outcomes, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal expressed his views on social media, stating that the party deployed dedicated workers for the by-elections and that the people of Delhi have clearly indicated their growing support for AAP. He noted that in just 10 months, public trust is rapidly returning to AAP, suggesting that Delhi is on the verge of returning to positive politics and effective governance.

Meanwhile, AAP candidates Rajan Arora, Anil, and Ram Swaroop Kanaujia won in wards 139 Naraina, 35 Mundka, and 164 South Puri, respectively. South Puri is notably the only seat reserved for Scheduled Castes in this election. Additionally, AIFB's Mohammad Imran and Congress's Suresh Chaudhary won in wards 76 Chandni Mahal and 163 Sangam Vihar-E, respectively. Suman Kumar Gupta, who won from Chandni Chowk, promised to address issues related to traffic congestion, electricity, and water supply.

He informed a news agency that he would work on resolving all problems related to traffic jams, sewage, electricity, and water. The Chief Minister had pledged ₹100 crores for Chandni Chowk, and Gupta stated that this fund would be utilized for the area's development and to restore the pride of Chandni Chowk. AAP's Ram Swaroop expressed gratitude to the party's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal.
