BJP Protests Against BJD and Congress Over Women's Safety Issues
BJP's Strong Stand on Women's Safety
Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a demonstration at Master Canteen Square, targeting the Opposition parties, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, for their inconsistent stance on women's safety and for allegedly protecting leaders implicated in sexual assault cases.
The protest featured numerous prominent figures, including former minister Arabind Dhali, ex-MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, State General Secretaries Saroj Kar and Kasturi Mishra, BJP Yuva Morcha chief Abhilash Panda, and Mahila Morcha President Aishwarya Biswal, among others.
Demonstrators displayed placards and set fire to effigies of Rahul Gandhi and Naveen Patnaik, accusing them of ignoring sexual assault allegations against their party members.
Niranjan Mishra, a state BJP leader, condemned the BJD and Congress for what he described as their hypocritical approach to women's safety.
He pointed out that while both parties engage in Odisha Bandhs, candlelight vigils, and protests regarding such matters, their lack of response to incidents involving their own leaders—such as the arrest of NSUI state president Udit Pradhan in a rape case and allegations against BJD leader Amaresh Jena—highlights their duplicity.
"The leadership of both parties has opted for silence, which exposes their double standards," Mishra stated.
"When their own members are implicated, they have no justifications. Their insincere expressions of concern will no longer deceive the people of Odisha," he concluded.
