Sribhumi, April 4: During a rally on Saturday, Nitin Nabin, the national president of the BJP, accused former Congress administrations in Assam of transforming Barak Valley into a “crime hub” due to their focus on vote bank politics.
Speaking at a campaign event for the party's candidate in Ram Krishna Nagar, Nabin stated, “The previous governments prioritized appeasement over the welfare of local residents, leading to Barak Valley's crime issues.”
He emphasized that the electorate chose to “punish” Congress by voting them out, resulting in the establishment of a BJP-led NDA government committed to development.
Nabin expressed confidence that the NDA would secure a significant victory in the upcoming elections on April 9.
He asserted that the BJP government has made strides in promoting ‘Virasat-vikash’ (heritage-development) and has effectively reduced crime in the southern region of the state.
“Criminals no longer dare to disturb the populace, knowing that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take strict action,” he remarked.
The BJP leader also highlighted various developmental projects initiated over the last decade, promising to maintain this progress.
Discussing governance successes, Nabin noted, “The current administration has reclaimed government land from infiltrators, safeguarding the rights of indigenous communities. There is now peace instead of unrest, evident in the overwhelming support from the public.”
Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with BJP candidate Bijoy Malakar, Nabin mentioned their shared history in the Yuva Morcha.
“Thanks to Bijoy Malakar's efforts and the Chief Minister's strong leadership, the construction of a medical college is advancing swiftly. Once the NDA is back in power, the aspirations of the people will be realized through him,” he added.
The rally attracted over 10,000 attendees, creating what party officials described as a “sea of supporters,” indicating a robust political momentum in Barak Valley ahead of the elections.
With such a large turnout and enthusiastic engagement, BJP leaders are optimistic that Malakar will achieve a historic victory in the constituency.
