BJP MLA Critiques Madhya Pradesh Government Over Local Neglect
BJP MLA Voices Concerns Over Government Inaction
A controversy emerged in Madhya Pradesh on Monday when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ambrish Sharma publicly criticized his own party's government. He accused state officials of negligence, bias, and ignoring both him and his constituency, as reported by a local news outlet.
Sharma, who is serving his first term as the representative for the Lahar Assembly seat in Bhind district, initially organized a protest against the state government but later decided to cancel it.
During a public gathering and at the protest, he expressed that both he and the residents of Lahar feel abandoned and overlooked.
Sharma stated, “The people and the MLA are now orphans,” emphasizing their plight.
He further appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his party, urging them to ensure that the Lahar constituency does not face injustice.
The MLA accused officials of inaction regarding illegal encroachments and irregularities, despite numerous complaints. He claimed that influential individuals were being shielded while necessary actions were postponed or ignored.
“Officials should not confuse our patience with weakness,” he remarked. “I am a cultured MLA of a cultured party… You aren’t even worth a single puff – if I blow, you’ll end up flying all the way to Pakistan.”
Following Sharma’s remarks, the BJP's state spokesperson Ajay Singh Yadav responded, stating that the protest was aimed at a Congress leader who allegedly protects illegal activities, and that Sharma is standing against this.
Yadav clarified that Sharma's criticisms were directed at a specific group of officials, asserting that the Congress party is known for shielding individuals associated with illegal activities.
Additionally, the BJP has reported that members of the Scheduled Caste community in Lahar have been protesting against Govind Singh, a close associate of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, for allegedly encroaching on land designated as a pathway for various villages.
In response, the Congress party dismissed these allegations. Mithun Ahirwar, a spokesperson for the party's state unit, stated that Govind Singh is regarded as a respected leader in the political landscape, and that Sharma's accusations are not being taken seriously, even by his own government and party.
Ahirwar added that the officials Sharma is accusing were appointed by the BJP government itself.
