BJP Leader Dilip Saikia Responds to Gaurav Gogoi's Criticism of RSS

BJP's Stance on RSS Amid Political Tensions
Guwahati, June 17: Dilip Saikia, the president of the Assam BJP, asserted that the nationalist movement will gain momentum if Gaurav Gogoi, the state Congress chief, continues to criticize the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Saikia stated, "Every time Gaurav Gogoi disparages the RSS, it only fortifies our nationalist base. The recent electoral outcomes in Maharashtra and Haryana have validated this notion. Gogoi is well aware of this reality," during a press conference on Monday evening.
This statement follows Gogoi's recent accusations against the RSS, linking them to the communal unrest in two districts of Lower Assam, suggesting that the organization is inciting division among communities ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Saikia remarked, "This is not merely a spontaneous comment from him; it is a calculated narrative he is attempting to construct. I hope he soon gains some wisdom," in response to Gogoi's claims.
He further noted that Mahatma Gandhi had visited an RSS camp in Wardha, Maharashtra, in 1934 and had spoken positively about the organization. Saikia emphasized, "Those who have spent their lives in comfort cannot truly grasp the essence of the RSS or its mission. The RSS engages with the grassroots population."
Additionally, the BJP leader accused Gogoi of having connections with the ISI, claiming that his wife is under the influence of the Pakistani intelligence agency.
Saikia added, "Gaurav Gogoi performs namaz and recites the kalma, and many pray for him. However, if he also participated in kirtan, the public would hold him in higher regard. It is naive to expect an honest perspective on the RSS from someone like him," he asserted.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also alleged that Gogoi, who serves as the deputy leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, and his wife have ties to Pakistan's ISI, promising to present substantial evidence to the public on September 10.
