BJP's Allegations Against DMK Government

On Tuesday, K. Annamalai, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), criticized the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, accusing it of betraying the public by failing to fulfill its promises. While celebrating the grand Pongal festival in Vasudevanallur, Tenkasi district, Annamalai pointed out that the long-standing demand for the restoration of the Shenbagavalli dam remains unaddressed, even as illegal mining activities continue to rise.

Highlighting Administrative Failures

He emphasized the 'administrative failures' of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's government, noting that a DMK official resigned due to inaction on these issues. Annamalai posted on X, stating, “The DMK government is deceiving the public by not fulfilling promises, including the long-standing demand for the restoration of the Shenbagavalli dam.” He contrasted this with the central BJP government, which has granted Geographical Indication status to the Puliyankudi lemon.

Concerns Over Illegal Smuggling

Discussing the issue of illegal smuggling, Annamalai remarked that there has been an increase in the illicit transportation of mineral resources from Tenkasi to Kerala. The inability of the DMK government to curb this activity has led to the resignation of a party official, reflecting the administrative shortcomings of the Chief Minister. He urged the public to unite and send a nationalist representative from Tenkasi to the assembly.

Wishes for Pongal Festival

Extending his wishes for the Pongal festival, Annamalai expressed his heartfelt hopes for the welfare and prosperity of all beings, honoring the sun and the five elements during this grand celebration. Previously, a DMK leader from Tirunelveli, Chandrasekhar, had also resigned from the party, citing inaction regarding mineral smuggling.
