BJP's Allegations Against DMK Government

On April 10, K. Annamalai, a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserted that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government has only fulfilled 15 percent of its 511 electoral promises. Speaking at an election rally in Udhagamandalam, located in the Nilgiris district, Annamalai accused the ruling party of misleading the public regarding 99 percent of its commitments. He was campaigning in support of BJP candidate Bhojarajan for the Udhagamandalam assembly seat.

Reflecting on the previous elections, Annamalai noted that Bhojarajan narrowly missed victory but congratulated the winners and even published advertisements acknowledging their success. He criticized the DMK government, labeling it as a superficial administration that fails to ensure safety for women. Annamalai also targeted Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and MP Kanimozhi, accusing them of providing false information regarding petrol prices and the availability of LPG cylinders.

He emphasized that the current DMK administration is merely a facade, claiming it poses risks to women's safety. Annamalai alleged that Kanimozhi and Stalin have lied about fuel prices and cylinder shortages. He referenced an incident during the anti-Hindi movement, accusing a DMK member of involvement in a jewelry theft case, which he cited as an example of corruption within the party.

Highlighting welfare and development initiatives, Annamalai mentioned several central government projects and investments. He pointed out the establishment of a government medical college and hospital at a cost of ₹447 crores, along with a natural gas scheme benefiting nine lakh families, which involved an investment of ₹3,700 crores. Additionally, he noted that 18,532 families received free 'Ujjwala' cylinders.
