BJP Leader Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Embarrassing India Amid Protests
Allegations Against Rahul Gandhi
On Tuesday, Gaurav Bhatia, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed that Rahul Gandhi has orchestrated a scheme to embarrass India. This accusation arose following the arrest of Uday Bhanu Chib, a leader of the Youth Congress, during protests at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam. Addressing a press conference, Bhatia labeled Gandhi as the weakest link in India and questioned his understanding of the Constitution.
Details of the Arrest
Bhatia asserted that Gandhi's actions were aimed at shaming the nation. Uday Bhanu Chib was apprehended for allegedly leading a shirtless protest by Youth Congress members during the AI Summit, prompting the Delhi police to seek a seven-day remand from the court. Chib has since been placed in police custody for four days. Bhatia criticized Gandhi, stating that he has never even read a copy of the Constitution, emphasizing that every citizen of India adheres to it as it binds the nation together.
Criticism of Gandhi's Actions
Bhatia further condemned what he termed Gandhi's 'fake love shop,' suggesting it only promotes shamelessness. He highlighted that Uday Bhanu Chib, as the president of the Congress party's youth wing, acted on Gandhi's orders to strip during a time when the world was focused on India, tarnishing the country's image. Following the arrest, the court has accepted a four-day police custody for Chib.
Court Proceedings and Allegations
Earlier today, a Delhi court ordered the four-day police custody of Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the protest case. Authorities allege that Chib was the mastermind behind an unlawful assembly that occurred at the event on February 20, 2026. He is accused of inciting anti-national slogans and attempting to create a riot-like situation.
Ongoing Investigation
The police have claimed that Chib, along with co-accused Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Narasimha Yadav, and Ajay Kumar Yadav, obstructed and assaulted on-duty police officers. During questioning, he reportedly did not cooperate and refused to disclose the names of other co-accused who fled the scene or the source of the T-shirts used by the protesters. The investigation is ongoing, and the Delhi police's crime branch has taken over the inquiry into the Youth Congress protests during the summit.
