BJP Leader Accuses Kolkata Police of Harassment Over Durga Puja Theme

Allegations of Police Intimidation

On Wednesday, BJP leader Sajal Ghosh claimed that the Kolkata police sent a letter to the organizers of a Durga Puja event, following the announcement of a theme called 'Operation Sindoor' by a local club. This letter was intended to intimidate the event organizers.

The two-page letter, dispatched from the Muchipara police station to the secretary of the Santosh Mitra Square Sarbojanin Durga Utsav, outlined several regulations that needed to be adhered to in order to ensure the safety of attendees at the club's festivities. Ghosh is among the organizers of the Durga Puja at the club.

When contacted by a news agency, Ghosh stated, 'We did not put up any advertisements or billboards regarding our theme (Operation Sindoor). It was merely a post on Facebook this past Sunday, and we received a two-page letter on Monday. This is nothing but an attempt to create unrest.'
