BJP Launches Nationwide Campaign for Guru Ravidas's 650th Birth Anniversary

The BJP has unveiled a nationwide campaign to honor the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, set to run from July 29, 2026, to February 20, 2027. The initiative, named 'Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj Samarasata Sankalp Abhiyan,' will kick off with ceremonial events in Varanasi and include a series of cultural programs across the country. Key leaders will participate in flagging off the journey of 131 pots filled with sacred soil, and numerous events will be held in temples nationwide. This campaign aims to celebrate the teachings and ideals of Guru Ravidas, emphasizing equality and social justice.

Nationwide Campaign Announcement

BJP MP Tarun Chugh announced on Monday that the party will commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas through a nationwide initiative named 'Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj Samarasata Sankalp Abhiyan.' This campaign is set to commence on July 29, 2026, and will continue until February 20, 2027. During a press conference at the party headquarters, Chugh explained that this seven-month-long campaign will kick off on Guru Purnima and conclude on the anniversary of Guru Ravidas.


Ceremonial Events and Activities

The campaign will begin on July 28 at the birthplace of Guru Ravidas in Varanasi, where 131 pots filled with soil from the sacred site will be worshipped. Chugh mentioned that on July 29, BJP National President Nitin Naveen, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State President Pankaj Chaudhary, and the entire party leadership will flag off the journey of these 131 pots across the country, passing through every state and district.


Cultural Celebrations Planned

Between July 29 and September 10, 'Kalash Vandana' programs will be held at 21,000 locations nationwide. Additionally, events will take place in 51,000 temples across the country starting from July 29. On the night of July 29, villages and temples will light lamps in honor of Shri Guru Ravidas at 51,000 sites. A significant Deepmala event will also be organized at the Ganga ghats.


State-Level Workshop Participation

Earlier on Friday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a state-level workshop for the 'Samarasata Sankalp Abhiyan' held at a local hotel in Dehradun, commemorating the 650th anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj. Paying tribute to the saint, Dhami remarked that Guru Ravidas's teachings and ideals remain relevant and significant for society. He emphasized that the life of Sant Ravidas symbolizes India's rich cultural heritage, inspiring society towards equality, humanity, social justice, and harmony.
