BJP's Strategic Meetings in Guwahati

Guwahati, Dec 26: On Friday, Nitin Nabin, the national working president of the BJP, participated in the state executive and core committee meetings held at Kalakshetra in Guwahati, marking a significant push in the party's preparations for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections scheduled for early next year.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed that Nabin's presence would bolster the party's organizational efforts as they gear up for the elections.

The discussions during the meetings centered around enhancing booth-level readiness, fostering coordination among district units, and promoting government schemes.

While addressing party members, Nabin reflected on his long-standing connection with Assam, which began in 2009 when he first visited as a leader of the Youth Morcha.

He emphasized that the BJP's commitment to the Northeast was rooted in the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who recognized the region's development as crucial for the nation's overall progress.

“Today, Assam and the Northeast are advancing alongside other developed states,” he remarked.

Nabin also took a critical stance against Congress, claiming that their governance compromised land rights and that central funds often did not reach the intended beneficiaries.

“In the past, funds dispatched from Delhi failed to benefit the people. Now, leaders like Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sarbananda Sonowal are capable of delivering what Assam needs,” he asserted, adding that the BJP's policies resonate with the cultural diversity of the state.

He pointed out the positive impact of welfare initiatives, particularly noting that the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme has alleviated financial pressures on families.

Regarding land issues and encroachments, Nabin accused Congress of engaging in vote-bank politics, stating, “Illegal infiltrators previously seized people's land and rights. The BJP government is actively working to reclaim encroached land and evict illegal immigrants.”

Dilip Saikia, the president of Assam BJP, announced the party's ambitious goal of securing over one crore votes in the 2026 Assembly elections.

“In the next 100 days, party workers must dedicate themselves to ensuring the return of an NDA government. While we anticipate public support, we must remain vigilant and avoid complacency,” he urged.
