Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha is poised to appoint a new president by July 8, as per the election timeline revealed by the party on Friday. Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who serves as the state election officer, announced that the official notification for the presidential election will be released on July 6.

Nominations for the position will be accepted on July 7, and if necessary, voting will take place on July 8. The results, including the announcement of the new state president and central council member, are expected to be disclosed on the same day. This organizational election was previously delayed due to a tragic stampede incident during the Rath Yatra festival in Puri. Insiders suggest that several senior leaders are vying for the position, with the current president, Manmohan Samal, seeking re-election.
