BJP in Kerala Anticipates Election Results Amidst Political Tensions
BJP's Stance on Election Results
On Monday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the president of the BJP in Kerala, stated that the party will refrain from making any formal comments until the election results are announced. He expressed confidence that voters will reject the divisive and corrupt politics of the opposition. Speaking to a news outlet, Chandrasekhar mentioned, 'We will wait for the election results, which are expected by this afternoon, before making any statements. In a democracy, no political party can determine the future of another.'
Critique of Opposition Parties
Chandrasekhar criticized the perceived arrogance of the CPM and Congress, asserting that it is typical of these parties to believe they can dictate the public's decision. He emphasized that this mindset is fundamentally flawed, stating, 'This is a democracy, not China or Russia.' He firmly believes that the people of Kerala will vote against corruption and divisive politics, expressing confidence that the India alliance's divisive strategies will be defeated.
Current Election Trends
As the counting of votes continues, the United Democratic Front (UDF) appears to be leading significantly over the Left Democratic Front (LDF), with the UDF ahead in 52 seats, while its main party, Congress, leads in 49 seats. The LDF is currently ahead in 21 seats, with the CPI(M) leading in 41 seats. In Malappuram district, where several constituencies are still counting votes, the UDF seems to be gaining an early clear advantage, although the LDF is providing stiff competition in some areas.
Close Contests in Key Constituencies
In the Kondotty constituency, UDF candidate T.P. Ashraf Ali is leading by 89 votes. In Eranad, P.K. Basheer is ahead by 41 votes, while Aryadan Shaukat is leading in Nilambur by 79 votes. A.P. Anil Kumar is also ahead by 65 votes in Vandur.
