Dhubri, May 12: Just hours before the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Assam, an incident of burglary was reported at the BJP district headquarters in Hatsingimari, South Salmara-Mankachar.
BJP officials stated that the break-in occurred in the early hours of Monday when the culprits forced open the office lock, gaining access to the premises situated in the Hatsingimari Super Market area. They reportedly made off with essential equipment and official documents.
Among the stolen items were an inverter, batteries, and several crucial official papers from the party office.
Party leaders believe the theft may have coincided with many district office-bearers and workers being in Guwahati for events related to the new Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“This is a regrettable incident for our district, especially occurring at our BJP office, which is located right across from the DC office and only 150 meters from the SP office,” remarked a representative from the BJP district office in South Salmara-Mankachar.
Following the discovery of the burglary, local police officials arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation after the party filed a formal complaint.
BJP leaders have expressed concerns regarding a significant security breach, noting that the burglary took place despite regular night patrols in the area.
“The authorities need to determine if this is a political conspiracy or a straightforward theft,” he added.
They have called for the swift apprehension of those responsible and the recovery of the stolen items.
The party representative reiterated that batteries, an inverter, and vital documents were among the stolen goods. A police complaint has been lodged, and officials inspected the office shortly after arriving. “They have assured us that the culprits will be apprehended soon,” he stated.
As of now, police have not made any arrests related to this incident.
