BJP Calls for Investigation into Jharkhand Exam Irregularities

On Friday, BJP lawmakers in Jharkhand urged for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, accusing the JMM-led government of jeopardizing students' futures. They criticized the Congress party for adopting a 'double standard' regarding examination issues.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, stated that students have been protesting for the past five days over reported irregularities and paper leaks in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) exams.

She remarked, “The state government has entrusted these examinations to companies that have been blacklisted. Such companies are playing with the future of our youth.” Devi further claimed that the Congress and its allies in the 'INDIA' coalition selectively address examination-related concerns, saying, “They talk about students' worries in Delhi, but is Jharkhand not part of the country? They remain silent about the youth and their future in Jharkhand because their government is in power there.”

Devi demanded accountability from the Chief Minister and Education Minister of Jharkhand, stating, “Since the 'INDIA' coalition government took office, there have been irregularities and discrepancies in every examination.”

Calling for the resignation of the Chief Minister, she added, “The youth of Jharkhand have been protesting for five days... Rahul Gandhi should also speak about the youth of Jharkhand and raise their concerns in Parliament.”

BJP MP Sanjay Seth noted that despite heavy rainfall, millions of young people in Jharkhand are protesting and demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged examination irregularities. He claimed, “There have been allegations of paper leaks in the JPSC and SSC exams. This is the first time in India that, according to allegations, an entire hotel was booked to fill answer sheets there.”

Another BJP MP, Nishikant Dubey, accused the ongoing investigation of being mere 'window dressing.' He stated, “A CID investigation has been initiated, and the JPSC chairman has resigned. However, the wife of the general secretary of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is a member of the commission and has yet to resign. This is why the ruling party wants to suppress this matter.”

Dubey also targeted the Congress leadership, saying, “If you have the moral courage, then resign now.”

He added that the NEET re-examination had been conducted properly, yet they listened to students' concerns. The Union Education Minister resigned, and they have promised compensation.

BJP leader Aditya Sahu alleged that irregularities in recruitment exams have been a recurring issue in Jharkhand over the years. He questioned, “Why does Congress remain silent on these issues in Jharkhand?”
