Election Postponed Amidst Tragedy
Bhubaneswar: The BJP has decided to suspend the election process for its Odisha unit chief, which was set to begin, due to a tragic stampede that occurred during the Rath Yatra celebrations in Puri, as reported by a party official.
The unfortunate incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two women, and left over 50 others injured near the Shree Gundicha Temple early on Sunday.

Sarangi expressed his sorrow over the loss of life, stating, "This tragic event has deeply affected us all. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased devotees."
He further mentioned that the elections, originally scheduled for July 1, will be postponed until further notice, with updates to be provided later.
Earlier in the day, Sarangi had indicated that voting for the BJP's organizational elections and the announcement of the state unit president were planned for July 1.
Additionally, Sanjay Jaiswal, a Bihar MP, has been designated as the observer for the upcoming elections.
