BJP Criticizes Rahul Gandhi as 'Immature' Amid Parliamentary Disruptions

BJP's Strong Critique of Rahul Gandhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, labeling him as an 'immature' and 'part-time' opposition leader. They accused him of obstructing parliamentary proceedings out of fear that the performance of the Narendra Modi government would be compared unfavorably to that of the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. The ruling party also claimed that Gandhi has made 'baseless' remarks against the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

During the launch of former MP Vaiko's book on Tuesday, Gandhi stated that students across the nation are in 'deep pain' and do not seek an apology from Prime Minister Modi; instead, they want him to publicly apologize for the government's actions. He further asserted that students are protesting because the RSS is attempting to rewrite the country's history, emphasizing that India will not accept its history being trampled upon.

Gandhi insisted that every state has the right to be treated equally with respect to its culture, but the RSS aims to promote a history that aligns solely with its perspective.

BJP's Response to Gandhi's Comments

At a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Rahul Gandhi of being 'immature', 'part-time', and 'irresponsible', claiming that he disrupts parliamentary sessions because he fears that comparisons with the Modi government will expose the Congress's failures. Bhatia stated, 'Rahul Gandhi is scared. He knows that when the effective Modi government is compared to the spineless Congress-led government from 2004 to 2014, the character of Congress will be revealed.'

In response to Gandhi's comments about the BJP and RSS, Bhatia alleged that the Congress leader is afflicted by 'Modi-phobia' and 'RSS-phobia', repeatedly labeling the RSS's ideology as 'toxic' without any evidence. He remarked, 'It is easy to call an ideology that has served the nation with integrity 'toxic', but proving it without evidence is impossible.'

Bhatia also pointed out Gandhi's silence on alleged question paper leaks in opposition-ruled states, stating, 'When question papers were leaked in Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Kerala, Rahul Gandhi was nowhere to be found.'

Allegations of Evasion in Parliament

In response to a question regarding the parliamentary deadlock, Bhatia accused Gandhi of being unable to counter the government's arguments during discussions, leading him to 'run away' from the House. He questioned, 'Shouldn't the Leader of the Opposition come fully prepared to the House when a parliamentary session is underway? Rahul Gandhi runs away from Parliament.'

Bhatia claimed that when Prime Minister Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah speak with facts, Gandhi has no answers. He highlighted the Modi government's record in repatriating fugitives from abroad, stating that between 2019 and 2026, 274 fugitives were brought back from 36 countries, averaging 40 per year. He contrasted this with the UPA government's record, which averaged only four repatriations annually.

Discussing economic offenders, Bhatia mentioned that the extradition process for Vijay Mallya is in its final stages, asserting that the government's efforts have helped recover thousands of crores for the public. He noted, 'There are nine cases linked to fugitives like Vijay Mallya, while 45 others are accused of various crimes.' He added, 'The return of these fugitives has resulted in the recovery of approximately ₹19,000 crores, which has been returned to its rightful owners.'

On the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of most provisions of Article 370, Bhatia described August 5 as a 'historic day', crediting Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for this achievement. He stated, 'Article 370 began with the term 'temporary', but no one had the will to remove it. On August 5, 2019, when Article 370 was abrogated, the true spirit of the Constitution was honored. Amit Shah demonstrated the willpower akin to that of Sardar Patel to ensure this was accomplished.'
