BJP's Stance on Women's Safety in Karnataka

On Wednesday, Shahzad Poonawala, a spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), condemned the Congress party regarding a recent incident involving a woman in Karnataka. In an interview, he stated, "The hollow slogans of the Congress party, like 'I am a girl, I can fight,' reveal their true nature. Just imagine if the police treated any woman, whether she is an activist or not, in such a manner, and Priyanka Vadra remained silent—what would happen? Such incidents highlight the failure of law and order in Karnataka and the Congress party's inability to address these issues."

Allegations Against Congress Regarding Women's Safety

Poonawala accused the Congress party of failing to ensure the safety of women and maintain governance in the state. Earlier, on Saturday, Karnataka police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against three minor boys aged between 14 and 15 for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl in Hubli. According to police reports, the minors had been abusing the girl for over a week while her parents were away during the day.

Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar confirmed, "A complaint has been filed regarding the sexual assault and abuse of a minor girl. The three accused are minors aged 14 to 15 years. We have taken them into custody."

Shashikumar further elaborated, "These boys have committed sexual offenses against the girl for the past seven to eight days. The girl's parents are working and are out of the house during the day." He also mentioned that the police would follow the necessary procedures under the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
