BJP's Optimism for Upcoming Elections

Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP MP Manoj Tigga expressed confidence that the party will replicate its success in Alipurduar district, as seen in 2021. He asserted that all five seats in the district will once again be won by the BJP. Speaking to a news outlet, Tigga stated that Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee would return empty-handed from Alipurduar in this election.

In the previous elections, the BJP managed to send Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee's TMC back without any wins from Alipurduar, securing all five seats. Tigga is optimistic that history will repeat itself, claiming that the BJP's candidates will emerge victorious once more. He emphasized that the commitments made by the BJP will undoubtedly be fulfilled.

Addressing Local Issues

Meanwhile, Laxman Limbu, the BJP candidate from the Madarihat constituency, highlighted several pressing issues affecting the state, particularly those concerning tea garden workers and minimum wage concerns. Limbu remarked that there are numerous issues in Bengal that are hard to quantify. He pointed out that the problems of tea gardens and the minimum wage for workers are at the forefront of the BJP's agenda, which needs urgent resolution. He criticized the ruling TMC for relying on accusations rather than addressing the ground realities.

He further noted that the TMC has a tendency to make allegations without confronting the actual issues. Deepak Barman, another BJP candidate from the Falakata constituency, also expressed confidence in the party's prospects in Alipurduar, attributing unemployment and corruption to the state government. Barman stated that there are no significant challenges this time around, predicting an easier election for the BJP, which he believes will win all five seats again. He identified two main issues: the government being perceived as a 'jihadist government' and its reliance on unemployment and corruption. For the upcoming elections in Alipurduar, Paritosh Das is contesting on a BJP ticket, while TMC has Suman Kanjilal as their candidate. Shyamalal Roy is representing the CPI(M), and the Congress candidate is Mrinmay Sarkar.
