BJP Responds to Kharge's Allegations

New Delhi: The BJP has criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi canceled his Jammu and Kashmir visit due to an unfavorable intelligence report just days before the Pahalgam attack last month. The party labeled Kharge's comments as highly irresponsible, especially given the current tensions with Pakistan.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a senior BJP leader and former Union minister, stated that Kharge has aligned himself with other Congress leaders who have made controversial statements regarding national security instead of managing them responsibly.

"What sort of remarks is he making? He claims in an all-party meeting that they support the nation, yet simultaneously attempts to undermine it," Prasad remarked to the media.

During a public gathering in Ranchi, Kharge alleged that Modi's cancellation of his Jammu and Kashmir program was prompted by an intelligence report received three days prior to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

"I learned that an intelligence report was sent to Modi Ji three days before the attack, which led to the cancellation of his Kashmir visit. If the report indicated that it was unsafe for him to go, why didn't he alert the security forces, local police, and border patrol to ensure the safety of the tourists? He canceled his program but failed to deploy additional forces for their protection," Kharge claimed.

In response, Prasad emphasized that Kharge's comments were among the most irresponsible uttered by the leader of the opposition party.

"Such remarks are deeply regrettable, especially when the nation stands united with the government in preparation for a nationwide mock drill," he added.

Prasad suggested that Kharge should have called for greater accountability among his party members, rather than joining them in making controversial statements.
