BJP's Strong Position Ahead of Assam Elections

Guwahati, March 25: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister, expressed strong optimism regarding the BJP's prospects in the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections, predicting a significant victory due to what he perceives as a feeble opposition across the state.

During a campaign event in Nagaon, Sarma noted that the BJP's support has notably increased over the last five years, suggesting that voters are likely to favor the party decisively.

“This time, we aim for more than 126 seats. From Sadiya to Dhubri and Barak to Brahmaputra, there is hardly any visible opposition,” he stated.

He mentioned that while he occasionally hears about opposition activities through the media, he seldom sees their presence during his campaign tours.

“I only learn about the opposition when I talk to journalists. Otherwise, I hardly notice any of their activities during my travels,” Sarma commented.

The Chief Minister emphasized that voters have become more politically conscious and assertive over the years, indicating they would vote with conviction in the upcoming elections.

“In the past five years, the people of Assam have grown stronger and more aware. This time, they will vote wholeheartedly,” he remarked.

On the topic of illegal infiltration, Sarma asserted that incidents of related disturbances have decreased, reaffirming his government's commitment to stricter measures in the future.

“In the next five years, we will implement even tougher actions against illegal infiltration and associated issues. The situation has improved, and we will continue to uphold law and order,” he stated.

He also shared his vision of revitalizing Assam's identity, emphasizing its cultural and historical roots, referencing figures like Srimanta Sankardev and Ahom general Sukapha.

“We aspire to create a greater Assam founded on our cultural heritage and values,” Sarma concluded.
