BJP Celebrates Historic Win in Thiruvananthapuram with PM Modi's Invitation

BJP's Landmark Victory in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 5: The BJP's remarkable achievement in securing control of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, which ended over 40 years of continuous governance by the Left Democratic Front (LDF), is poised to be celebrated on a national scale. The Prime Minister's Office has extended a rare official invitation to the party's councillors for a reception.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has personally invited a delegation from the BJP, led by Mayor V. V. Rajesh, to a dinner at his official residence on February 13.

This kind of invitation to local government representatives is quite unusual and highlights the importance the central leadership places on this victory.

As part of the celebration, the BJP has arranged for all 50 councillors from the 101-member Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Council to travel to New Delhi.

The councillors are set to depart Kerala on February 9 via the Kerala Express train.

BJP units across various states will host receptions at train stations where the train makes extended stops, transforming the journey into a strategic political outreach.

In addition to the dinner with the Prime Minister, the delegation will tour significant national monuments in the capital.

The central leadership aims to highlight the Thiruvananthapuram election results, which they describe as a "golden victory" in Kerala's local body elections, as a significant national achievement.

During the visit, the Thiruvananthapuram development document is also expected to be presented in Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi previously praised the Corporation results as "the start of a new era" and a milestone that is "written in golden letters."

He also sent personal letters of congratulations to Mayor Rajesh and Deputy Mayor Asha Nath following the election results.

This marks the first time the BJP has established an administration in a municipal corporation in Kerala, aided by an independent councillor.

The National Democratic Alliance's rise pushed the LDF, which had dominated the civic body for nearly four decades, to second place, while the Congress-led United Democratic Front fell to third.

Political analysts see the upcoming visit to Delhi as a strategic morale booster for the BJP as it gears up for the forthcoming Assembly elections, indicating the party's aim to leverage its municipal success for broader electoral gains.

Currently, the BJP has no representation in the 140-member Kerala Assembly.
