BJP Candidate Rama Srinivasan Confident of Victory in Madurai South Assembly Elections
BJP's Strong Position in Tamil Nadu Elections
Rama Srinivasan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Madurai South constituency, emphasized that neither the people of Tamil Nadu nor those in Madurai South are backing the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the upcoming assembly elections. In a conversation with a news outlet, Srinivasan expressed confidence in the BJP's success, citing the party's previous performance as a positive indicator for this election.
He stated that the BJP has emerged as a party representing all of Tamil Nadu, contesting elections in nearly every region. The campaign is progressing well, and our workers are highly motivated, working tirelessly. All our leaders are eager to ensure that the BJP secures a win in southern Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu BJP is indeed a party for all of Tamil Nadu, having previously contested in parliamentary elections here and finishing in second place, which gives us an advantage this time.
Srinivasan noted that the same candidate is running in this constituency, and the voters are familiar with him, instilling confidence that they will win the seat. Discussing the DMK, he mentioned that the anti-incumbency sentiment will work in their favor, as the public mood is against the DMK alliance. In Madurai South, the voters' inclination is also against the DMK coalition. The Tamil Nadu assembly elections are scheduled for April 23, with counting set for May 4.
The main contest is expected to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The SPA includes the Indian National Congress, DMDK, and VCK, while the NDA is led by the BJP and PMK. Additionally, actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to contest with the TVK, potentially making the competition triangular.
